The actual book up there sadly had an accident though. Its now a sad little broken book, RIP book. One night a gay Manhattanite who has been having a horrible day, has to go to 7 holiday parties and deal with all of the drama that you can imagine 7 parties filled with family and gay men create/5. A farcical, over-the-top feast of twisted one-liners and outrageous imagery, Let Nothing You Dismay depicts Tad's--and everyone's--struggle for survival, with a bracing combination of Darwinian theory and hallucinatory fairy-tale wonder. He's just been fired, he's about to be evicted from his sublet, he's getting nowhere on his overdue folklore. Twenty children murdered just days before Christmas. But, as dreadful as those deaths in Connecticut were, it was a lightly-reported incident that particularly troubled me throughout this holiday season: some Newtown residents took down their Christmas decorations. They apparently believed that expressing the joy of the season was out. I suppose if asked I would have said God was giving rest to some happy fellows and encouraging them not to dismay (the next line says "let nothing you dismay.") Was I ever wrong! I recently read a bit of history on this carol from Ace Collins' book 25 Days, 26 Ways to Make This Your Best Christmas Ever (see chapter/day 3). The carol was written. Simplistic, Repetitious and Utterly Disarming! Benjamin Shultz, a young PhD in Geography candidate, is a surprisingly gifted new author. In his debut novel, LET NOTHING YOU DISMAY, he demonstrates the ability to narrate in the voice of a child so well that the reader feels as though the story is a conversation, a dialogue between a young boy who matures through high school as he relates the 5/5.
